Nur in the horizon

Nur: Devine Light.

The clouds and mountain peaks make space for the last rays before the sun sets. Trees reach to grasp what’s left of the day, as their nur returns to the creator.

In Arabic, nur means 'divine light'. This word's power isn't easy to translate as it can be interpreted in many ways, but the direct translation is 'light'. Nothing would express the warmth and comfort that the eyes can see as much as the sun.

This painting is a gouache study recently created as a commission project for the green room at Ifssa. The theme was light within Alberta landscapes. The colour theme was determined through balancing shadows and mirrored light bouncing through a forest. Painting created by Siham.
